Crestfallen (Extended version)

Quietly I whisper to anyone who will listen, taking a deep breath not so much of frustration but of concern. I'm starting to understand what my Mother & Grandmother felt when they were feeling the burdens of others so deeply.  My grandmother always talked about being able to see the train coming but not being able to do anything about it in regards to situations in people's lives. I remember her saying, "Somethings we just have to live through." She helped people carry their burdens and never seemed to wear down.  Maybe she was given a window of perception into some lives in order to pray for them and offer emotional  support.  Now that I have your attention, let me pass on some of her advice she gave to me. I've missed the mark many a day, but I do my best every new day I'm graced with.  And it is this- "Don't ever get so proud you think you're past or above the anguish of crestfallen days."
