a toad plans

what does a toad plan to do?
i wonder as i behold his cuteness in my window sill...
he's just going with the flow-
i have learned much from him this beautiful day- full of birdsong on the breeze as we sat, soaking in the rays together.

Inbox Vibes

I locked my inbox down tight, like Fort Knox, unsubscribing to every single newsletter because I had overwhelmed myself with information.  This is how you end up with thousands of unread emails.  To remedy this, I learned the art of self curation to control my inbox vibe.  @baccusbee #vss365 The thought has occurred to me, or more aptly I've felt the pressure to produce a newsletter. I'm at odds with the content I would publish though...Like, "I befriended a toad today & wrote a poem about it. Wanna hear it? Here it goes..."  Nah, folks would pass on that.  @baccusbee #vss365

free (rhyme)

free the sublime  love is not blind  'tis best to be kind free to unwind  simply enjoy the rhyme  won't even cost you a dime so many ways to spend time  as the birds chime & i suck on a lime  remembering my prime        -baccusbee

Ring The Bells!!!

I had a dream about spirits of old, ambling around in dusty corridors shaking their chains.  Waking the living... Clearly, I see the message is about rattling the chains, not cages.  In other words, Fellow traveler-  Ring the bells! Ring your bells!!!  Ring a bell sound familiar? Ring a bell to remember?  Ring a bell together- Chase negativity away & Keep it at bay.  Revive the bells in our town squares, set the bells tolling & keep them rolling.  It's a match in the dark for us to see our way.  Ring the bells!  @baccusbee

Humanity Prompted

Beings, so infinitely intuitive, Came to my door- Disheveled and requiring water. Curious… I gave them water! As they found relief, Their forms changing… Seeing the look on my face (Of disbelief!) They calmed me and began to confide- The explanation of everything... Humanity be prompted! ©lbaccus   january 21 2020 @baccusbee #scifipoetry

Elegy for Our Fallen

Let us lament our fallen, Men and women lost in service to their countries.  Take a moment and say a prayer for the grieving (and the traumatized) & bid safe passage to the departed on their journey ahead.  May this elegy honor them & Comfort those who mourn.  @baccusbee #vss365

parrot heads

Terrible Poet

Maybe I'm a terrible poet, And quite simply- I just did not know it… Nevertheless, It shall never be said- I did not sing like a bird  My verses to the world! Nor that I did not play the flute for you to dance, or a dirge for your mourning… May not be the key or beat you like… Alas,  I shall sing to you anyway. Home is where the heart is, they say… May our verses help sing humanity home. @baccusbee ©lbaccus 2019 Credit:  "Sing Me Back Home" Don Williams 2014 Matthew 11:17 #poetry

Roots (excerpt)

And so i stand, With these threads in hand- Of the various thoughts  I researched and chased fervently Trying to quench my thirst over the years... Now- Looking back to where I began, I see A glorious tapestry taking form... Alas, I only describe one part of the elephant as I perceive it… I want to see the whole beautiful beast! Don’t you? The tapestry is waiting for you to pick up threads and describe your part of the elephant...so we can all see the big picture.  Together. That's why storytelling is vitally important.                        -Lora Baccus Excerpt from my personal essay,  Roots ©️lbaccus February 2019

prehnite mountain

on prehnite mountain, I lay my bare bones hot...parched… weary- finding relief & rejuvenation of spirit I release my sorrows & pain  washed away  by tears flowing into a river,  down the mountain & out to the sea... poetry by lbaccus april 12 2019 @baccusbee

tiny ants

i watched as tiny ants hiked rugged & treacherous terrain (for them) like they were tackling Mt. Everest sans the snow-just moss capped peaks here.  anxiety washed away with a simple return to nature, bathing in the beauty of it all....it's good to unplug.  @baccusbee #vss365
