birdsong brings me joy after the rain singing their babes home for bed. then i close eyes, ears focused on the mockingbirds, our neighborhood sentinels, calling out in ordered succession, and i listen to every call with delight.

BONUS DELIGHT:
Oh My Masala, my taste buds delight!
How did I get so far in years without this spice in my life?
On this prompt day for vss365 our word is masala courtesy of @revsodhi & I've ruminated on how to use it all day.
Crickets.
My husband wanted to try a new recipe for butter chicken and I thought, synchronicity!
(Pretty sure we don't have this spice in our pantry though.)
It's not widely available in my small rural town so we would have to do without.
Later, while he's cooking, he hollers from the pantry, "What's Masala?"
I holler back it's an Indian spice & it would be nice if we had some to try in this dish, also now thinking I'm in the twilight zone.
He emerges from the pantry with a bottle of Masala cooking wine neither of us remembered we had in the pantry!
I am in the twilight zone.
The finished dish was incredible!
Please note, I never said the word masala today until after dinner when I told him of this very short story.😂
