What A Fool Believes | Realistic Optimism

My motto-
'Love is the key. Use it.'
I wonder if I've been living under a rock,
wanting humans to value each other for who they are,
and less for their beliefs and identities.
My father calls me 'Pollyanna'
I always look for the bright side.
It's just who I am...
(Realistic optimist is more appropriate)
I'm not obsessed with whether my cup
is half full or half empty;
I'm grateful to have a cup,
especially when it overflows,
or partially full, running low.
I won't force myself on anyone,
won't change my personality to fit in either.
Until better days arrive,
I'll hold my space
stay in my lane,
sharing compassion, understanding
wherever I can.
Praying and hoping
against all hope
we don't lose our humanity.
Only to realize
what we lost too late,
Ah,
what a fool believes...

To me, optimism is like a gentle current we hold within ourselves.
I think it originates from agape love and goodwill.
Agape is the foundation for the other types of love.

One Source flows to all and through all-

Yes, I know about text book optimism and how it's developed and that it may be genetic.
Allow me to wonder out loud.

When you are surrounded and engaged with other optimist, doesn't the current feel a bit stronger and easier to tune into?

Think of a dire straight time in your life, when help finally arrived, or you bootstrapped yourself up- optimism was the force turning the tide.

You felt it return with Grace and resolve and your outlook went from 'all is ruin' to 'I can do this' or at least 'I think maybe I can do this thing'.

Think of a time you were going through a hard time shared with other people.
Who was that person you were relieved to see show up?
It's their presence. They brought optimism with them.

This verse isn't about toxic positivity.
Optimism picks itself up and tries again.
Toxic positivity turns sour.

It's about at least trying to keep your eye on the bright side

I've overcome and survived quite a lot in this life, so please don't assume it's easy for me to have this attitude because I haven't endured or overcome anything. I simply choose to keep my eye on the upside, it always come around.

And it will for you too...

We can do that, can't we?
